When did you first become aware of your heightened intuitive abilities?
My intuitive abilities didn’t activate until my mid-twenties. That is when I learned a lot about myself and my empathic ability. Around that time I developed the skill of lucid dreaming. Using what I see in dreams helps me witness synchronicity in my consciousness moments.
Describe your first experience with reading tarot for another.
My first official reading experience was offering free readings on Reddit in the new year of 2020. I made a post on the reading subs and I got a ton of feedback from it. I delivered close to 10 readings that day. Each reading took about 30-40 minutes to perform and write up. The experience was incredible. I could feel people through the cards, it was very emotional. I wept a little because the emotions were so overwhelming.
Recount one story or incident when the wonder, synchronicity, and “magic” of tarot and intuition came together for you in a tarot reading.
The most recent synchronicity was when my oracle cards predicted an illness and the loss of a job. When I got sick the cards saw the illness and recovery process. It was so uncanny. It all came true. I had to leave the job due to illness, and the cards showed that I had to focus on taking care of myself to stay healthy.
What is your personal belief about how and why tarot (or any divinatory system) works? What is the reasoning for its efficacy?.
I believe that we are all apart of universal energy that connects our consciousness, subconscious, and altered states of being. The cards and synchronicity serve as a way to reveal the web of intention and possibility while moving through time. The cards are just a means for us to use various archetypes to help prime our consciousness for that universal energy.
Professional Credentials
I hold an advanced diploma in Tarot reading and a bachelor of fine arts in music composition. I was a musician and composer before becoming involved in the occult arts. I feel that my music training and degree provide me an academic rigor that gives me edge. On top of my formal education I hold online diplomas in Parapsychology and Transpersonal Psychology.
I have been reading cards off and on for 10 years now. Within the last 2 years I have been taking this seriously. In those two years, I have been able to work through a large number of divinity systems that include the two most popular styles of tarot, Rider-Waite-Smith (RWS) and Thoth (Golden Dawn).
In this time I have been able to learn other divinity systems that include Lenormand cards, Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling Cards, Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Cards, Wisdom of the Oracle, and regular playing cards.
On top of cartomancy based systems, I have learned other systems like Dominoes, Dice, Runes and the I Ching.
Because of my student tenancies, I approached this profession with academic rigor. This will remain an ongoing process for me, life long learning. You can look at my resource page to see the materials I work with during that time. The resources page is updated frequently to reflect new materials I use in my studies.
On top of the resources and time I have spent with Tarot I was able to learn from digital mentors. I was fortunate to attend a webinar with Thomas Sheridan to learn about Tarot reading. On top of this I have learned from Marcus Katz through his recorded webinars. Finally, I am indebted to Benebell Wen for her digital resources that got me looking at tarot as a professional. A notable mention goes to John Ballantrae who’s Youtube videos got me started reading Tarot. These digital figures make up my group of mentors that I continue to learn from.
What other metaphysical arts do you practice that could be integrated with tarot?
I practice all kinds of cartomancy. I use playing cards and other oracle decks. I tap into cleromancy with dice and dominoes as well. I dabble in the Runes and I Ching when I have time. I may also cast a few sigil spells on occasion.
What led you onto the path of becoming a practitioner of divination arts?
When I started my BFA I used tarot cards to help create a piece of music for school. It was extremely successful. Tarot and aleatoric methods are not a new thing for music composition. Methods of chance have been used in music since the mid 20th century and much earlier. Because of the historic relation to chance music I knew that tarot would still be relevant today, and just as powerful.
After I finished university I got into sales and marketing as a career. The career evolved and lead me to blogging. Through blogging, I realized I could talk about my interest and monetize it. Blogging was the portal that helped me realize I could talk about tarot and read cards for others. It was a natural entrepreneurial step.
My Personal Style of Reading in 3 words
Intuitive. Candor. Practical.
How does your intuitive ability manifest?
I dream with a high sense of precognition and I see synchronicity all around me. When I feel strongly about something I feel it in my gut and from the back of my head into the center my forehead, it is an overwhelming feeling. That gut feeling is a sign that I should or shouldn’t do something.
Are you right-brained or left-brained?
As a artist, I had to learn to toggle between being logical and intuitive. I have trained myself to do both. Being an artist you eventually have to look at the facts and logic of your artistic work. The trick is to be able to enter different conscious states to accomplish different things. If I didn’t have to resort to any structured linear thinking or editing, I would default to right-brain thinking. A lot of the time I can daydream and let my imagination run wild.
How would you describe your reading style?
I try to read the cards as I would perform music. I try first to understand the fundamental theories, the accepted forms, and then I break the rules to deliver something special and unique.
I read the cards like a jazz player performing a solo. I use practiced patterns that I deploy in new ways to create something new in each reading. I see the cards for what they mean literally and how they metaphorically relate to the question. Then I see the space in between the cards. I look for dynamics and subtle differences between them. Then I look for the patterns in which I can weave a story that makes sense to the querent’s question.
The cards are the lead sheet, and I just play the song it tells me. In a reading nothing is good or bad, it just is.
What message do you want your “brand” to send?
I want my brand to show respect for tradition with an unyielding search for new ideas.
What do you want to be known for?
I want to be seen as an innovator with original work in cartomancy. A future goal would be to create a new divinity system with cards and cleromantic devices. This is in the works now. Very exciting!
I eventually want to marry divinity and business development. At the heart of businesses are people, and people sometimes need insight from an outside force. Because I have had experience as a salesperson in business I want to use that knowledge to help others. Being an entrepreneur is hard work and those people need guidance. I feel tarot and cartomancy would make a great platform for consultative work with entrepreneurs and businesses.
