Path and Psychic Card Guessing Article

Path and Psychic Card Guessing

In order to really dive into studying ESP I have to give credit to the creation of the Path and Tarot suite of cards. Without the creation of these cards, I would not be able to do the testing in the way I am now. The Path and Elemental deck was technically the first set of cards in the suite to be created to test myself for ESP, but all of these cards have played a role in how I approach ESP testing. The great thing is that these cards are my creation, and because of this, my intuition is connected to them. As the artist, I am grateful that I can sit down with the cards and demonstrate their use for you.

Pilgrims

Pilgrims and Tarot Cards

We are playing the game Pilgrims with the Path and Tarot deck! This is Pilgrims, a charming love letter to the classic point and click adventure genre of games. The game is beautifully designed with a unique art style that exceeds all of my expectations. The game has an outstanding soundtrack and sound design which I feel ties the whole gaming experience together. The puzzles you have to face are just difficult enough to make you think outside of the box, but they also contain elements of story telling. You should really play this game if you get the chance, and bring along your tarot too for additional insight.

Escape The Room With The Tarot

Escape The Room With The Tarot

Can I escape “The Room” with the power of tarot? I have no idea, but it’s worth trying. Using the tarot in unusual ways is one thing I aim to explore with PathandTarot. Can the tarot inform a video game? With previous games like the Binding of Isaac and Dome Keeper, it seemed to mirror the narrative I was developing as the player. It was uncanny. I say that word a lot, but I am afraid that it’s the best word that captures both my astonishment and my inability to explain what is happening.

The Symbols Of The Tarot

The Symbols Of The Tarot

The tarot as I know it is a symbolic representation of the world we live in. Therefore, when we consult the tarot we are consulting our self as the universe. The tarot contains sets of symbols that make up the backbone of the cards meaning. When you understand these symbols you will come closer to knowing the true meaning of each card, and thus getting to know yourself in a deeper way.

OpenAI and Tarot

OpenAI ChatGPT and Tarot Descriptions

I had OpenAI ChatGPT tell me about the tarot’s major arcana, and the results are, for a lack of anything better to say, comprehensive.

What I find interesting is that I had to collect the data over the course of multiple days. You will see a shift in the answers once you get to the Wheel of Fortune. Strange right? Usually the Wheel of Fortune indicates the shift from physical reality into the spirit world. Isn’t it interesting that we see that same metaphoric demarcation happen when the AI approaches an explanation of the tarot.

Based on what I know about the tarot I would say that the text is not wrong. It just lacks the flavour a real writer with real tarot experience. Most of the descriptions re accurate on a surface level understanding of the tarot. If I had to, I would feel comfortable giving this to a first time tarot reader and letting them have a god at the major arcana cards.

Dome Keeper and PathandTarot

Dome Keeper and PathandTarot

I thought what would happen if I attempted to interject the tarot into a play-through of a game that has nothing to do with the tarot? Dome Keeper just came out, it looked great, I wanted to play it, and here we are looking at my first impression of the game while prompting with my tarot deck. I was alarmed at how well the tarot aligned with my play-through of Dome Keeper.

PathandTarot Suite Readings

PathandTarot Suite Readings

The PathandTarot deck was not made by itself, and was created alongside both the Path and Playing Cards, and the Path and Elemental Cards. In fact, the elemental cards were the first to be physical printed and used for to test myself for ESP. The PathandTarot suite is the combination of the tarot deck, playing card deck, and the elemental deck. Each deck contain similar symbols and colours to create a uniform experience. This was done to also harmonize the experience and allow the user to create a depth in their readings that cannot be done with just a tarot deck alone.
