In only its third week the social media report has taught me a great deal. By virtue of just looking at the numbers I have begun to understand what is behind them, people. Someone’s real attention and aspiration.
I have learned that the profile numbers don’t tell you about the engagement you get from other users. Profiles can have thousands of followers, but low engagement. At the same time other accounts can have a few hundred followers, and have high user engagement. This is important to understand because the goal of social media is to be able to interact with other’s content and have them interact with yours.
Last week’s post gained more attention than I thought it would. The Instagram user designer.angel made some great comments about social media and added a lot of value to the post. What was said can be expanded into these three main tenants.
Consistency – Whatever it is you do on social media do it often and be consistent with it. Set schedules and timelines for your content.
Engagement – Engage with other user’s content, and engage with the comments on your content. Ask questions, add value, and expand the dialog.
Content – When making content ask yourself would this help someone? Would this open someone’s mind? Would this expand their thinking? Does this show something new?
If the answer is yes to any of the above you will be adding value to someone’s experience when they engage with your content. Do this and you will be making “valuable” content.
Here is a fine arts secret. We can know all this, follow it, and still not reach the desired effect. Learn the fundamentals then break them. In the process of breaking the rules, you will have created something unique.
Here is what I can tell you about this week’s numbers. I used TikTok in new ways, and I was able to see a drastic increase in followers. TikTok has a feature where you can make a video response to a comment. I used this feature to answer questions with Tarot readings. I was engaging with people and making content at the same time. Two birds with one stone as they say.
I am changing the format a bit this time. Each section will this week’s and last week’s statistics with a quick write up. Here are the numbers.

I had an increase of 18 posts and 4 followers. There was a decrease in the following of 3 accounts. Consistent small increase with good engagement from the social media post that inspired this week’s article.

Lots of interesting changes. I reduced the number of accounts I followed by 216. This helped hone in on the topics I appreciate and remove dead accounts. I did 210 tweets, gained 12 followers, posted 35 new bits of media, and got 86 likes. Last week it took 7 tweets to gain a follower. This week it was roughly the same ratio.

I had an increase of 30 videos and 114 followers. This was a dramatic change in that for every 1 video I gained 3 new followers. Last week it took 3 videos to gain 1 follower. I think the engagement type content made a difference.
This week was also unique in that I prepared a special type of content that acted as a countdown to January 21, 2021. The palindrome day was s chosen day to present my new Tarot deck. I made posts and videos that lead up to that day. This countdown bolstered my video count and possibly engaged more followers. What I can tell you is that it worked. However, at the same time, I had also delivered good quality content in the reveal at the end. I showed something new never before seen. A new prototype tarot deck.
