I chose to restart this diary due to my experiences with the coronavirus. Fortunately I have since recovered from the illness and recovered some of my sense of smell. In the time I was recovering I experienced some unusual psychic phenomenon that we will talk about in this entry.
I have been inspired by the book ESP In Life and Lab: Tracing Hidden Channels by Lousia E Rhine. At around page 230, we are introduced to the concept of “missing psi.” Rhine explains this concept as a noticeable negative deviation away from the expected result of chance. Cases of missing psi are when the subject scores no correct hits for a period of time in a test session.
On November 2nd 2020 I had been declared covid19 positive. I thought it would be the best possible time to test myself.
While testing I uncovered something interesting, missing psi perhaps.
The New Test
Despite the Covid I had already been preparing to do more testing on myself with a new method. I would arrange 5 tarot decks to do the tests. I setup the deck so that there would be 14 minor arcana cards of each suit and 14 major arcana cards of my choice. Each deck is re-sized to 70 cards, shuffled well, and stored away.
I had evolved my testing. Instead of doing 25 guesses I changed it to only 5 guesses. After each guess, I would reshuffle the cards and make another guess. I would then reveal the answer and record the result repeating this until completed. The test now would be to make those same 5 guesses, but one from each deck. My hope is that in doing it this way would avoid any physical interface from re-shuffling.
The Test Was Waiting For Me
These 5 decks were already arranged well before I had been declared covid19 positive. They were waiting for me, a strange thing in it self.
I started a live stream on Instagram at around 5 pm on November 2nd. I decided to warm up with my original elemental zener cards. You should know that I had removed the sub-elements from this deck leaving only 50 of the singular elements. This reduces the probability of getting more hits. You can read more here about the experiences with the elemental deck.
I did two separate tests with 5 guesses each using the altered elemental deck. I made all the guess from that deck and re-shuffled after each guess. I scored no hits on the first test, and only 1 on the second. For the third test I used the 5 pre-shuffled decks and score no correct hits.
By chance, I should have gotten 3 right answers for the whole session. I saw a noticeable change in my ability that day. Was it missing psi or was I off?
I would say that this session suggested at least the possibility of missing psi. I should have gotten more hits based on my ability.
More Data and Tests
I tested myself in one more session the following day on the 3rd. In that session, I did one test with 5 guesses using the elemental deck. After each guess, I would reshuffle the deck. In the test, I reached the expected level of chance with one right answer. However, what was strange was that the right answer appeared on the third guess as the element earth. The data from the previous day showed that my only right answer was on the third guess as earth on the second test. To finish off I re-shuffled the 5 tarot decks to prepare for the next session.
Another Test For The Missing PSI
I tested myself again on November 15th and recorded more acceptable results. In the session, I did three tests. On the first test, I scored no hits with my elemental cards. In the second test, I used my elemental cards again and scored two hits. For the third test, I used the 5 prepared tarot decks and scored no hits.
Now, I was performing above the expected levels of chance with two right answers. The first test was nothing, the second test was something, the last test was nothing. This pattern resembled the first test session in that I got my results on the second test out of the three. Much like the first session, the prepared tarot decks yielded no hits.
Notable Test
The November 22nd session was notable because I had the chance to test someone live. By this time I was more recovered from Covid.
The Instagram user by the name of magick_by_brit acted as the subject. In this test, Brit achieved 2 hits out of 5. The expected score of the session would be 1 hit for 5 guesses. I would say that Brit had demonstrated ESP/psychic ability above the expected levels of chance.
The weird thing about this test session is that I had already begun my test when Brit came into the live stream. I already scored a hit on my test. What I did was pause my test and performed Brit’s test. After it was completed I resumed mine and scored another hit. The rest of the guesses I got wrong.
I then went to the prepared tarot cards and I scored 1 hit out of 5. This was an improvement over not getting any hits in previous sessions.

Historic Data
I started doing the five-card test in May of 2020, and I was only ever able to get one case where I scored 2 hits out of 5. On top of this, I only had one case where I scored 3 hits out of 5. For those tests I was using my elemental deck with the sub-elements. This meant I was able to record a hit if I guessed at least one of the right elements on the sub-element card. What this means is that if I guess fire and the sub-element has fire & water, it would be a hit. Now, I was scoring hits without the sub elemental cards and the added increase of hit probability.
What a strange thing to experience. I went from missing psi to scoring above the expected levels of chance with cards that didn’t provide any extra hit probability. To top it off another test subject was able to match the same score as me.
Investigating ESP is challenging because you can never seem to recreate the same conditions you experienced the phenomenon in. It seems that each occurrence of this phenomenon is unique. What we will see next?
